Our Mulch Installation Service Process

When it comes to doing mulch installation right and getting that beautiful finished product you are looking for, it’s all about the preparation and the details. This preparation in our mulch installation service often takes twice as long or more than spreading the mulch. Not doing this will result in a job that doesn’t look professional and that will have lots of problems in the future. Take a look at our process below with informative videos:

Removing Old Mulch (Optional)

This is only necessary if you are changing the type of mulch (wood to stone, pine straw to wood, etc). Otherwise, its not included in our mulch installation service.

Bed Preparation during Mulch Installation

This would include adding fabric (only for stone mulch installation), smoothing out existing dirt and mulch, and redefining bed edges for beds that are edged naturally. This would also be a good time to trim any shrubs or palm trees.

Spraying Weeds during Mulch Installation

During the mulch installation, existing weeds are sprayed to ensure they don’t grow through the new mulch.

Spreading New Mulch

Mulch is spread to the appropriate depth and smoothed. Special care is given not to make the mulch too deep around the base of plants or up against the house.

Applying Pre-Emergent after Mulch Installation

Although spraying will kill existing weeds, pre-emergent is needed to help prevent future weeds for up to several months. This greatly reduces the number of weeds and can be re-applied throughout the year.

Cleanup

All paved areas are blown off and everything is cleaned to leave a beautiful finished product. Any debris from removing old mulch or trimming shrubs and trees are hauled away after compleeting the mulch installation service.
